The History Of ITI Technical College

The History of ITI Technical College started when Earl J. Martin, Jr., an instrument technician, founded ITI Technical College in 1973 after seeing the need for training in his field of study. He developed the teaching philosophy and personal interest in the student, which are still the guiding principles of ITI today.

In 1981, ITI Technical College received accreditation by the Accrediting Commission of the National Association of Trade and Technical Schools, now the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges. In the History of ITI, it was in 1979 when it began offering classes at its current facilities.

The Proud History Of Our School

Since then, courses have been added to the curriculum to widen the scope of the students and to more directly serve the needs of the business and industrial community.

In 1993, the name of the school changed from International Technical Institute to ITI
Technical College. That year ITI began offering Associate in Occupational Studies Degree programs.

And History Of ITI Continued with The Launch Of The Associate in Occupational Studies Degree Programs

In 1998, ITI Technical College launched two new Associate in Occupational Studies Degree programs in Information Systems Technology and in Process Operations Technology.

In 2005, ITI Technical College introduced an Associate in Occupational Studies Degree program named Office Administration with Specialization in either Business Management or Medical Records Management.

In 2011, ITI Technical College launched its newest certificate program offerings, Medical Assisting and Medical Coding.

In 2012, we expanded our Air Conditioning, Refrigeration & Electrical Technology program to offer an Associate in Occupational Studies degree.

Proud History Of ITI Technical College

This new offering was designed to serve our ever-changing population and students’ needs.

In 2016, ITI Technical College introduced an Associate in Occupational Studies Degree program in Construction Management. This program was a result of the increased industrial, commercial, and residential construction in our area and the demand for construction managers.

ITI Technical College was formed to fit the needs of the businesses located in the Louisiana and Gulf Coast region. The objective of ITI remains the same as when it was founded: to train personnel to meet the job requirements of a progressive technological age. In its more than forty-five years of operation, ITI has hosted educators from around the world to observe techniques of vocational education.

Today, IT graduates are placed nationwide as they go forth to meet the rising demands for trained technicians.
