Information Technology

The Information Technology (AOS) program at ITI Technical College begins with an introduction and overview of Information Systems Technology. In the course, the student will have an opportunity to become familiar with the scope of the Information Technology Industry and the software and hardware tools used in this fast-growing field. Students will be exposed to core courses in Mathematics review, PC Office Applications, Success Skills, and Introductory courses in Networking and Programming.

These courses will help the student decide which of the two specializations they would like to pursue. As the Information Technology industry has become more specialized or skilled, the graduates must be more specialized in their careers.

Students will gain practical experience as they participate in the design, setup, and maintenance of various Networking configurations in an up-to-date laboratory setting. The students will also be introduced to the Security/Backup issues as they relate to a Networking environment.

Students will take workplace communications classes as well as technical writing to help them effectively communicate. Elective courses will allow the Networking Specialty student to enhance their study with selected courses including Web Design & Applications, Visual Design, or Database Design. Programming Specialization: After completing six core courses, the students move into the programming specialty.

At this point, they will begin by taking Data Structures & Algorithms and then move on to Database design and Implementation. Students will then continue through Object Oriented Programming, Visual Design, Web Design, Database Administration, Web Applications, Database Development, Data-Aware Web Applications, and Advanced Applications Development.

Through these programming courses, students will have an opportunity to work with several popular software development tools such as C#, Visual Basic.Net, and ADO. Net, ASP. Net, HTML, and Microsoft SQL Server. Students will take workplace communications as well as technical writing to help them effectively communicate.

Elective courses will allow the Programming Specialty student to enhance their study with selected courses including A+ Hardware, Software & Operating Systems, Computer Networks, and Network Security.
